Welcome

Saint Bridget’s is a Catholic community living a Christian life of faith, worship and service in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It includes the suburbs of Balwyn North, Balwyn, Surrey Hills/Mont Albert, Bulleen and Doncaster.

The parish has a strong tradition of community based on a history of forging its Greythorn identity by building a Hall, School and Church/Presbytery from a previous history with other parishes in the area. This cemented a modest but proud community of faith that celebrates in a Church environment adapted to the contemporary liturgy with ample amenities for meeting and sharing life together.

The parish has a strong Saint Vincent de Paul Society and is a generous contributor to areas of need based on principles of social justice and its capacity to share. It has supported the poor and needy of Melbourne but also disadvantaged children in Vietnam and is in the process of identifying health and education projects in Bangladesh. This social outreach is a key aspect of its Christian life and witness.

The Parish Primary School, Saint Bridget’s, is an important part of its mission to evangelize. However, a number of Catholic students attend the local Government schools and their religious education needs are met by a strong group of catechists who teach in small groups in preparation for the sacraments.

Greythorn is a growing Catholic population and the parish is challenged, as are parishes throughout the Archdiocese, to become stronger centres for mission and outreach in the local area. It has identified a stronger vision, celebrated in Eucharist and leadership as key elements for growth in the future.

Welcome to our website and a share in the life and mission of our parish.
