Be more

From Karen Jebb, Principal of Our Lady of Zion:

AS I reflect upon what to say to these wonderful young women on Friday night, I am reminded of the Gospel reading last Sunday from Mark (10:17-30). It is the story where the rich young man learns that the cost of following Jesus is a complete gift of self, holding nothing back. It challenges each of us to see our human frailties and what may hold us back from totally trusting in God.

We read about the disciples asking Jesus, “Then who can be saved? Jesus looked at them and said, For mortals it is impossible but not for God; for God all things are possible. (Mark 10:26c-27)

I hope our year 12 students leave this College community knowing that with God, all things are possible.

Pope Francis speaks of “being more” than “having more”. My prayer is that our graduating class of 2015 continues to “be more”, to live the Sionian Charism that calls them to become individuals filled with hope, who speak to the Divine within themselves and beyond their imagining. That they will continue to be young women who will always strive to discover the presence of God, to be concerned for justice, truth, reconciliation and peace and have the courage to speak the truth, and the energy to act for change.
