Leadership And Future Of Saint Bridget’s School Greythorn

THE Parish Primary School, as I have said several times this year, is an excellent school. It enjoys an enthusiastic staff and the 2015 results were indicative of the above average education that the students enjoy. Furthermore, particularly as the students mature from the fourth grade, they present as competent, articulate and confident youngsters. They are at home with their Catholic faith and responsive to faith and values.

With the departure of Paul Dwyer, and now Glenn O”Donnell, to further their careers, a normal transition has become a matter of deep concern for some parents. This concern is accentuated by the resignation of two other teachers and the absence of a Prep year in 2016.

I can understand this anxiousness since our children are paramount in our shared but different responsibilities.

However, can I caution against too quick a decision. The Parish and the Catholic Education Office remain committed to St Bridget’s. We will shortly appoint a principal from a solid field of applicants. This person will lead a dedicated group of teachers and the special needs of students, as before, will be professionally addressed. I can assure you that we are doing all that we need to do to ensure a solid leadership is in place for 2016 and that we are working towards a Prep year in 2017.

Should you wish to discuss any matters with me, I (Fr Dennis)  am available.
