THE often simple words and melodies of carols have expressed the faith of ordinary Christian believers for many centuries. Carols are mostly associated with Christmas.
At the festival of prayers, carols and readings, the readings and music will focus upon Advent, when we await the promise of Christ’s glory.
The tradition of the carols service dates from the late nineteenth century, but it stems from the great tradition of the daily prayer of the Church.
Towards the end of the celebration, the Blessed Sacrament will be placed on the altar for adoration.
