IN 1980, at the beginning of the Church building, the following was written:
“Actually, what has been built is rather more than a church; more truly it might be described as a church community centre, offering a range of facilities and features.
This ‘House of the Church’ reflects careful planning, for which merit is undoubtedly due to the architects.
Greater, though, is the praise due to Father O’Shea, who, through tireless effort has, within a comparatively short time from the date of his appointment, planned and brought to completion what we may confidently expect to be regarded as a gem of modern ecclesiastical construction.
The highest praise, as ever, is due to the Almighty Father, who has brought us all, and our House of the Church, to this present time.”
We do indeed build on the foundations of fine generous men and women. The refurbishment has started.
Please God it will remain faithful to the original vision and add to our sense of prayer and liturgical celebration.
