John Brierley has written a practical and mystical manual for the modern day pilgrim which I recommend. I leave tomorrow (Monday) and will remember you all in my prayers and daily devotions. Please pray for me.<\/p>\n<p><em>To laugh is to risk appearing a fool.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To weep is to risk being called sentimental.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To reach out to another is to risk involvement.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To love is to risk not being loved in return.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To live is to risk dying.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To try is to risk failure.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But risks must be taken<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The people who risk nothing may avoid suffering and sorrow,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But they cannot learn, feel, change, grow or really live.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Chained by their servitude they are slaves who have forfeited all freedom.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Only a person who risks is truly free.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE \u00a0Way of St James&#8221; is a pilgrimage with a long history and many routes.
