MANY people joined in proudly when the National Anthem was sung on Anzac Day, and rightly so.\u00a0 Recently I came across another verse that has been written to the same melody as our National Anthem. It goes like this:<\/p>\n

\"Anzac-Logo\"<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

With Christ our head and cornerstone, we\u2019ll build our nation\u2019s might,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0 Whose Way and Truth and Light alone can guide our path aright.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Our lives a sacrifice of love reflect our Master\u2019s care,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0With faces turned to heav\u2019n above Advance Australia Fair.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

While we sing the National Anthem as Australians or residents of Australia, the verse above we sing as Christians who belong to a \u2018kingdom that is not of this world\u2019, the Kingdom of God.<\/p>\n

Usually the law of the land and the law of God go hand in hand.\u00a0 But lately, our politicians have put themselves above God and brought in laws that are contrary to the law of God,<\/p>\n

The basic law of any society is \u2018You shall not kill\u2019 This gives protection to all, especially the vulnerable and weak.\u00a0 Now our State Government wants to introduce euthanasia.\u00a0 Suddenly we are unsafe.<\/p>\n

As the Bishops say, \u2018there is no safe way to kill people or to help them to their own suicide\u2019. We all have hard times or times of sickness, weakness or depression.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrue compassion\u201d, as Pope Francis says, \u201cis the compassion of the Good Samaritan, who \u2018sees\u2019, \u2018has compassion\u2019, \u2018draws near\u2019\u2019 and provides concrete help.\u201d\u00a0 We do or can do this for those in need.\u00a0 We don\u2019t hand out poison pills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
