{"id":4171,"date":"2018-11-28T11:17:11","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T00:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stbridgetsgreythorn.org.au\/?p=4171"},"modified":"2018-12-01T11:14:57","modified_gmt":"2018-12-01T00:14:57","slug":"plenary-council-some-issues-raised-5-30pm-mass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kmgit.com\/testbuzz\/plenary-council-some-issues-raised-5-30pm-mass\/","title":{"rendered":"Plenary Council: Some Issues raised: 5.30pm Mass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stbridgetsgreythorn.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/pc2020.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3920\" src=\"http:\/\/stbridgetsgreythorn.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/pc2020-300x171.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"http:\/\/kmgit.com\/testbuzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/pc2020-300x171.png 300w, http:\/\/kmgit.com\/testbuzz\/wp-content\/uploads\/pc2020.png 490w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>AFTER the 5.30pm Mass, Sunday November 18, some 30 parishioners gathered\u00a0 to discuss the question <strong>\u2013 &#8216;<em>What do you think God is asking of us in Australia at this time?<\/em>&#8216;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They broke up into four groups and the following are points raised.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Break down the barriers \/go outside and embrace the \u201clepers\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Not be exclusive<\/li>\n<li>Deeds speak louder than words = community service<\/li>\n<li>Sell the positive message of what the Church already does in the community<\/li>\n<li>We need a different model of Church \u2013 more community and less authoritarian<\/li>\n<li>Priests need to be spiritual leaders but not running a business such as a parish.\n<ul>\n<li>Let clergy focus on the spiritual aspects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Change Canon law to empower parishioners to live their vocation \u2013 embraced the reforms of Vatican II<\/li>\n<li>Share the good news of faith and empower people as communities, not as individuals\n<ul>\n<li>All are called in different ways and have different talents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Seek to heal the broken people in society<\/li>\n<li>Tap into the (need for) a sense of peace and community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Group 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How can we better live out our faith in a secular society?<\/li>\n<li>What steps can we take to connect with the wider community especially in the area of spirituality and prayer?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Group 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>God asks us to help the marginalised\n<ul>\n<li>Be active<\/li>\n<li>Reach out<\/li>\n<li>Service<\/li>\n<li>Participate<\/li>\n<li>Be accepting<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy life<\/li>\n<li>Find positivity<\/li>\n<li>Finding goodness in all things and all people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Group 4<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To put the emphasis on relationships rather and buildings and rules<\/li>\n<li>To be more inclusive in every sense<\/li>\n<li>To be more innovative \u2013 put plans in place to implement the desired changes<\/li>\n<li>Pride in being part of the Catholic community whilst acknowledging our mistakes and failures<\/li>\n<li>More emphasis on youth involvement through youth groups sporting clubs et cetera<\/li>\n<li>Church connecting more with our local community \u2013 in this case Greythorn<\/li>\n<li>Is there a <u>real<\/u> desire on the part of the hierarchy for the laity to have a meaningful involvement?\n<ul>\n<li>What limitations have been placed on involvement<\/li>\n<li>Is this just a window dressing exercise?
